Buddhist Meditation Classes In Chicago

Weekly Beginner's Meditation Class

Classes meet each Tuesday evening at 8pm in the Rockefeller Chapel Interreligious Center.

Classes start Tuesday 28th September 2010 (Tuesday of 1st week) and continue each Tuesday evening at 8pm until 30th November 2010.

Beginners welcome at any time throughout the course. Class is free of charge.

Rockefeller Chapel is at 5850 S Woodlawn (intersection of 59th and Woodlawn). There is usually ample parking.

The Inter-religious Center is in the basement of the Rockefeller
Chapel. Class meets in the Uncommon Room (formerly room 019). If you cannot access the Chapel through the main door, try the side door. To get to the side door, walk along the west side of the building. Towards the north end is a set of stairs, at the bottom of which is a door directly into the Inter-religious Center.

Meditation Morning - October 2nd, 2010

There will be a morning of meditation for beginners on Saturday October 2nd, 2010. It will be held at Ida Noyes Hall on the University of Chicago campus.

The morning will run from 7.45am to 1pm.


You'll learn Samatha Buddhist meditation, a graduated form of
mindfulness of breathing for the development of calm and clarity.

Beginners are welcome. Those who have some familiarity with Samatha,
  or other forms of meditation, are also encouraged to attend. We'll run a special session for those who have attended a previous Samatha meditation day in Chicago.

There will be sitting meditation, walking meditation, and discussion.
  Wear comfortable clothes!

Tea, coffee and cookies will be available.
