The Huddersfield Samatha group meets on Tuesday evenings 7.00-8.30 pm during school term times at the Friends Meeting House, 34 Church Street, Paddock HD1 4TR - about a mile from Huddersfield town centre. Our first meeting after the summer break will be Tuesday 3rd September.
This group is open to anyone who would like to learn a form of Buddhist meditation called "Samatha", which is a technique of breathing mindfulness
The word Samatha means calm - if practiced regularly, this form of meditation leads to greater calm and happiness, and more clarity and awareness in daily life. It is a method which is particularly suitable for people who are looking for a way to bring some stillness and balance into busy or stressful lives.
Newcomers are always welcome, whether you have practised meditation before or whether this is your first time!
There is no charge for the teaching, but meditators contribute to the cost of the room hire (and refreshments) - this usually works out at about £3 each.
If you would like to know more, or are interested in coming along to the class, please contact Deborah on the telephone number or email above.
Please note: Classes do not take place during the school holiday periods of Christmas, Easter and summer (Kirklees school holiday times).
